Tarkett Wood Introduces More Surface Intrigue Product

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn., January 26, 2005 – Tarkett Wood continues to dominate the fashion flooring market with the introduction of Artisan FieldStone, the industry’s only hardwood flooring to offer dramatic surface textures reminiscent of natural stone, and the Artisan Sculptures collection of softly contoured, hand-scraped engineered hardwood floors. With these additions to the Artisan line, Tarkett has expanded its variety of choices for consumers who want floors with unique texturing and character to complement today’s high-fashion interior designs.

“The Artisan collection of engineered floors has been one of our best sellers, so much so that in early 2004 we expanded the line with color washed and hand-scraped products that give the floors a gently aged appearance,” says Analie Roth, vice president, marketing, Tarkett Wood. “This was greeted with so much enthusiasm that we wanted to take our collection to the next level with even more sophisticated textures. With the additions of FieldStone and Sculptures to the collection we have the industry’s most wide-ranging and impressive offering of flooring options with striking textures and visuals.”

Tarkett Wood is the only manufacturer to offer hardwood with the dramatic look and color variations of stone.  The distinctive stone appearance is achieved by the combination of Tarkett’s proprietary hand-scraping techniques and innovative proprietary finishing process. The same finish is applied to all the species in the collection, but because of the individual properties of each species they react independently to deliver varying stone looks.

Artisan FieldStone is available in several species and stone looks, including: Maple Greystone, Beech Hearthstone, Cherry Cobblestone and Walnut Slate. These selections perfectly balance interior design showcasing stone, granite, marble, quartz, slate, tile, terra cotta and brick.

The Artisan Sculptures Collection uses a proprietary hand-sculpting process that gives the flooring a soft, contoured, evenly worn look to replicate floors gently worn by generations of traffic. Sculptures is offered in Hickory Caramel; American Cherry Natural and American Cherry Cognac; Walnut Natural and Walnut Caffe.

While both FieldStone and Sculptures can be glued, stapled or nailed down, floating installation is recommended and is the simplest and most efficient method for saving time and money.

Both Artisan FieldStone and Artisan Sculptures are engineered 5-ply cross directional, ½” thick, 5” wide random length planks with beveled sides and ends. Tarkett manufactures all complementing premium wood moldings and transitions to coordinate with both collections.
